2. Creating Space, Imparting Literacy

Ajay and Harsun Bhil young brothers of the age of 10 and 12 from tribal community migrated to Simali village from Naswadi Block last year with their family. Their parents migrated for getting employment on farm.

In their native village they were in class 4 and 5 but did not acquire any reading and writing skills. Hence after shifting to Simali village their parents did not enroll them in school and they too started working on farms with their parents. CF Balmitra Sangita approached the parents and with regular counseling for a year she convinced them to send their children to Gyanvihar Kendra.

In current academic year both the boys are enrolled in the Cosmo Gyan vihar Kendra. They have acquired skill of counting, simple multiplications, reading and writing simple words. There is improvement in their hygiene, made many friends, enjoy games and eagerly participate in all festival celebrations. Parents are satisfied and happy to see the progress of their children. While going on farms in the morning they come to drop them to our centre. In next academic year they will be enrolled in Government school in Simali village. Their sole admiration is for Sangita madam, a Balmitra in Cosmo Gyan vihar kendra who created space for joy, happiness, friendships and acquire learning, freed them from daily labor on farms”.
