Benefits of Using Heat Sealable Films

Heat Sealable Films are Multi – layered films that comprises of an outer coating which prevents it from melting the core of the film and damaging it. The core is often polypropylene and there is a sealant layer inside of the film that has a lower melting point and it works in order to keep the seal intact and pack the product tightly.

When there has to be some confidential or important packaging required, in that case high intensity seal is used in order to keep the seal bond tight and to keep it together, and then in that situation heat seal acts as the best film. Another feature is that it not that expensive as compared to cold seal films. In order to protect the product and optimize the film according to the needs of the product, the heat seal film is made available in wide range of lamination’s.

Here are three things that should be considered while producing a seal and they are:

1. Heat is Necessary for Heat Sealable Films, but not in the case of cold seal films, therefore it is important to maintain accurate temperature of the sealing surfaces.

2. The time span for which the machine jaws need to keep the sealing material together should also be considered.

3. The most important is the pressure that has to be implied on the sealing material.

If there is some changes made in one of these three above mentioned factors then the other two things also have to be changed. For instance, in the case of a change in the machine speed, if it is increased significantly, then the time for which the sealing product has to be kept in the machine jaws will drop and henceforth the temperature needs to be increased.
